Scooter Tricks 09/24/2008

The Bunny Hop - This is most often used for jumping curbs. The rider simply jumps up with his scooter, sometimes as high as twelve inches. If jumping curbs, timing is everything! The Bunny Hop is the gateway to other scooter tricks.

The 180 - While bunny hopping, or still on the ground, the front wheel is pivoted in order to spin the scooter 180 degrees.

X-Up - While bunny hopping, twist the handlebars back and forth in order to make an invisible X.

Tailwhip - Again, while bunny hopping, kick the scooter's board from underneath you with either foot. Let the board swing all the way around and land on it when it comes back into position under your feet.

The Superman - While in the air bunny hopping, spread your legs and bring them back together to land on the scooter.

No Hands - You steer with your belly against the handlebars (Look, ma! No hands!).

All of these scooter tricks take a fair amount of practice (and potential bruises) to perfect. If you are a sure-footed daredevil, you can probably get these scooter tricks figured out and go on to invent some of your own that will surely thrill or scare your friends to near death. As with anything that brings the possibility of injury with it, it's a good idea to wear protective gear while practicing and perfecting these scooter tricks. Make sure you're doing them in a spot where the dangers of passing vehicles or running into bystanders are eliminated. Good luck, and have fun!
